Granite Belt is Queensland’s premium wine-producing region, situated 600 – 1,500m above sea level. The rare combination of cool weather and decomposed granite soils produces outstanding wines and a very diverse range of food. This premier wine-producing area also experiences unique growing and ripening conditions, unlike anywhere else in the country.
Sirromet Winery is a family-owned and run winery situated at the picturesque Mount Cotton, only a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Like many wineries, Sirromet as a fascinating story which began when Terry Morris, a Queensland entrepreneur and businessman, was visiting Victoria for a dinner party with friends. Terry mentioned that he had tried a great wine from Queensland’s Granite Belt to which his Victorian friends laughed and responded with “There’s no such thing as a great wine from Queensland.” This was all motivation Terry needed to create his vision for Sirromet.
Choosing to locate Sirromet in the Granite Belt region, Terry opened the doors to the public in 2000. Utilising traditional methods and new technology, Sirromet produces exquisite quality wines already recognised on the world stage. Today, Sirromet is proud is have collected over 900 prestigious national and international wine awards. There is no doubt as this winery continues to mature, like its fine produce, it will only get better with age.

Take a guided tour of Sirromet’s state-of-the-art winery facility and gain an insight into the winemaking process. Your host will share the history of Queensland’s Granite Belt wine region and tell the story of the Australian family who created one of the most recognised wine brands in Queensland. Learn how Sirromet’s red, white, sparkling and fortified wines are made and how different techniques and methods have been adopted to create wines that are a true expression of the region.
After your tour, return to the Cellar Door where you will taste a selection of handcrafted, premium wines led by a Cellar Door host. Your premium tasting experience will showcase 7 wines rarely available for tasting.
