Winery Experience; Leeuwin Estate

The famous Margaret River wine region in WA is known globally for its wine, beaches and sense of adventure, all tucked away in Australia's south-west corner.

Just a three-hour drive south of Perth, Margaret River has some of the most beautiful scenery in Australia and a visit promises the likelihood of charming vineyards, gourmet food, unspoilt beaches, friendly locals and stunning scenery.

The family owned, and award-winning, Leeuwin Estate, is one of the original five founding wineries of the now internationally famous wine district. Enjoying its first commercial vintage in 1979, Leeuwin was initially thrust onto the international stage when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay. Since then, a team of highly skilled winemakers have consistently produced wines that rank alongside the world's finest.

Celebrating the ‘art of living well,’ a visit to Leeuwin Estate guarantees a combination of fine wine, art, music and an award-winning dining experience that portrays a philosophy of showcasing exceptional seasonal West Australian produce in a picturesque setting.

Offering four unique experiences to choose from, each includes a winemaking tour with a historical overview of the vineyard and Estate.

1) Immersion Experience - a relaxed and informative introduction to the Estate inclusive of morning tea with freshly baked scones. A private overview of the history of the region and the Leeuwin Estate vineyard is followed by a behind the scenes tour of the winemaking process, and a visit to the Leeuwin Art Gallery to view the collection of uniquely commissioned Leeuwin Estate “Art Series” labels. At the conclusion of the tour your host will guide you through a Wine and Food flight; five incredible wines matched perfectly to a seasonal menu.

2) Wine and Food Experience - is the most elegant way to be introduced to the Estate. Upon arrival you are welcomed to the Art Gallery with a glass of Leeuwin Estate Brut whilst our tutor outlines the unique collection of contemporary artworks that feature on the labels of Leeuwin’s premium ‘Art Series’ range of wines. A tutored wine tasting of five Leeuwin Estate wines, each accompanied by perfectly matched food, will precede lunch in the award-winning restaurant where you will continue to enjoy the range of wines accompanied by a seasonal menu which includes house baked bread and olive oil, à la carte selection of mains, à la carte selection of desserts, farm cheese and tea and coffee.

3) Degustation Experience – is the most luxurious way to be introduced to the Estate’s unique qualities - fine wine, food and the arts. Upon arrival guests are greeted by their host and commence the experience with morning tea and freshly baked scones.

Your host will then escort you on a behind the scenes tour introducing the history and winemaking philosophy of Leeuwin Estate. After visiting the Art Gallery to view the unique collection of contemporary Australian artworks that feature on the labels of Leeuwin’s premium ‘Art Series’ range of wines, the tour concludes with a tutored tasting of select Leeuwin Estate wines.

Upon returning to the award-winning restaurant, guests will be presented with a seasonal seven course degustation menu accompanied by carefully matched Estate wines. Each dish and wine match will be introduced by the experienced culinary team. This tantalising experience is tailored to ‘wow’ even the most experienced diner.

4) Art, Wine & Cooking Experience – you will be greeted upon arrival and welcomed to the Estate with a glass of Brut and by your host. You will then enjoy a tutored viewing of the unique collection of contemporary Australian artworks that feature on the labels of Leeuwin’s premium Art Series range of wines. The viewing will be accompanied by chef’s selection of fine canapés.

After enjoying the Art Gallery, a seated tutored wine tasting of five Leeuwin Estate wines, each accompanied by perfectly matched seasonal food, will be awaiting you at our alfresco verandah.

After a short break your host will introduce you to your chef for a private cooking demonstration featuring local produce and introducing our culinary philosophy and culture in an informative and intimate way as you enjoy tasting four seasonal dishes matched to four Leeuwin Estate wines.

At the conclusion of the cooking demonstration you will enjoy a dessert and coffee and each guest will receive a special memento including a recipe book of all dishes sampled.
