Big Bash League cricket is fast becoming the hottest ticket in town during the summer months. With fireworks, big hits and fast-paced action, the BBL has evolved into an Australian sporting juggernaut, with 8 teams across 6 states gearing up for another big season.
The Hobart Hurricanes, based in and representing the state of Tasmania, are the only elite sporting and entertainment brand located in Australia’s Island state. Playing the majority of their home games at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena, the Hurricanes regularly attract capacity crowds to their boutique home stadium, guaranteeing a boisterous atmosphere. With the old school hill packed with cricket tragics and families, it really does have that unique local cricket feel that is lost in the major stadiums.
The Hurricanes are historically a high scoring team, owning a number of records that include – the highest team score in BBL history, co-holding the third and fourth highest scores as well as being the team with the three highest run chases in Big Bash history. With very talented squad, expect more fireworks this season from the Hurricanes.
Lead by captain and former Australian international player George Bailey, Hobart has the firepower to explode at any moment. Starring in BBL|07 in a break out year, resulting in an Australian debut, was D’Arcy Short. Opening the batting for the Hurricanes, Short broke the competition record for the most individual runs in a season, scoring 572 runs at an incredible average of 57.20. D’Arcy is a young, upcoming star of Australian cricket and is definitely worth the price of admission to see live.
With a talented list at their disposal, Hobart will be hoping they can bring back the BBL championship to Tasmania for the first time in their history. After twice losing in the final, the Hurricanes have the squad to finally deliver that illusive title.
Make the most of the action this summer and enjoy Big Bash entertainment from start to finish, with massive hits, classic catches, entertainment and action for everyone.
